District Information

Pleasant View Elementary School, located in the rural community of Poplar with scenic views of the Sierra Nevada mountains, serves approximately 470 students from transitional kindergarten through eighth grade. Pleasant View stands as a recognized leader in educational excellence. Nationally honored by AASA as a National Demonstration District, a National and California School to Watch, the district has become a hub of innovation and hope.
Driven by a vision to reimagine education and foster equity, Pleasant View offers a holistic approach to learning that combines rigorous academics, personalized instruction, and meaningful extracurricular programs. Our initiatives—ranging from targeted math and reading interventions, Paideia seminars, and financial literacy projects to our newly opened Expanded Learning Center—reflect a commitment to developing the whole child. We prioritize social-emotional growth through mentorship and relationship-building and actively engage families through enhanced school-to-home connections. In accordance with Education Code 46600.2, Pleasant View Elementary School District accepts and processes interdistrict transfer requests in accordance with applicable law and District policy.
Starting an Interdistrict Transfer Request
Outgoing Students

Families who reside within Pleasant View Elementary School District and wish to have their student attend a school outside of the District may begin the interdistrict transfer process by contacting the District Office.

District staff can provide guidance on the required steps and necessary forms.
Interdistrict Transfer Request Process
Interdistrict transfer requests generally follow this process:
  • The parent or guardian contacts the school district of residence and completes that district’s interdistrict transfer request form.
  • If approved by the district of residence, the request is forwarded to Pleasant View Elementary School District for review.
  • Interdistrict transfer requests must be approved by the Pleasant View Elementary School District Governing Board.
  • Approved interdistrict agreements are granted for one school year and must be renewed annually.
Governing Board Approval
Interdistrict transfer requests are reviewed for approval at regular Governing Board meetings, which are typically held on the second Tuesday of each month.
Families will be notified in writing of the Board’s decision.
Appeal Rights
If an interdistrict transfer request is denied, the parent or guardian has the right to appeal the decision to the County Board of Education.
School District of Choice Program
Pleasant View Elementary School District participates in the School District of Choice program in accordance with state law.
In compliance with Education Code 48313, the District maintains required records and reports information to the Governing Board and appropriate agencies, as applicable. District compliance is reviewed as part of the annual audit.

Pleasant View Elementary School District has adopted Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP) to address complaints alleging violations of state or federal laws or regulations governing certain educational programs and activities.
The District encourages early resolution of concerns whenever possible.
What Can Be Filed Under the UCP
The UCP may be used to file complaints related to issues such as:
  • Discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying
  • Noncompliance with state or federal education programs
  • Pupil fees
  • Foster youth and students experiencing homelessness
  • Retaliation related to the complaint process
How to File a Complaint
Complaints may be filed using the District’s Uniform Complaint Procedures complaint form and must follow the timelines and processes described in the District’s policy.​

​Bullying and Harassment Prevention
Pleasant View Elementary School District prohibits bullying, discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and hate-motivated behavior in all district programs and activities.
Any student, parent or guardian, or community member may report bullying or harassment to a teacher, school administrator, or other school employee. Complaints are investigated and resolved in accordance with the District’s Uniform Complaint Procedures or, when applicable, Title IX grievance procedures.
