children Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI)

Help our schools access funding and provide more support for social‑emotional staff. This year, PVESD will request that all families sign a consent form and provide their child’s health insurance information. Doing so helps unlock funding to continue supporting the vital work our amazing school counselors and psychologists do for students every day.
About CYBHI: California launched the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) in the 2021 state budget to strengthen physical and behavioral well‑being for students. CYBHI expands prevention and early‑intervention services at school—where students spend most of their day. Thanks to CYBHI and the state’s collaboration with private insurance providers, Pleasant View Elementary School District (PVESD) can be reimbursed for eligible physical and behavioral health services provided to students during the school day. This helps us maintain and enhance vital supports for students.
What this means for Pleasant View families
PVESD offers a range of student supports, including school counseling, psychological services, nursing services, and partnerships with community providers. With CYBHI, we will:
  • Sustain our current services for students.
  • Strengthen our referral process so students, staff, and parents can access help quickly.
  • Seek reimbursement for eligible on‑campus services to stretch district resources.
Consent and proof of insurance
To participate, the district needs proof of your child’s insurance (see form below). Submitting the form gives PVESD permission to seek CYBHI reimbursement for any eligible services your child receives at school.
Important:
  • Your insurance will not be billed or notified for services your student receives at school through this program.
  • There is no co‑pay and no impact to your coverage.
  • Having insurance is simply the requirement for the district to access CYBHI funds. Students will continue to receive school‑based supports regardless of insurance status.
Please complete the Proof of Insurance & Consent form and return it to your school office or email it to [email protected].

Questions? Contact the Office at 559‑784‑6769.
Learn more about the statewide initiative at the CYBHI website: cybhi.chhs.ca.gov.
What is CYBHI?
A statewide effort to expand mental and physical health supports for children and youth, including services delivered at school.
Does this affect my insurance?
No. Your insurance is not billed and is not notified for services your student receives at school through CYBHI. There is no co-pay and no impact to your coverage.
Why do you need proof of insurance?
The state requires proof of insurance so the district can request CYBHI reimbursement. This helps PVESD sustain and improve services for all students.
What if my child doesn’t have insurance?
Students will still have access to school-based supports. Please contact your school office for help with no-cost/low-cost coverage options.
